About the SLV Air & Weather Project
SLV Air & Weather is a community-centered initiative that shares real-time air pollution and weather information across Colorado’s San Luis Valley. The goal is to make environmental data accessible and useful for residents, schools, and organizations across the region.
This effort is part of the Mountain West HUB — a regional collaboration focused on improving access to air quality and climate information throughout the Mountain West.
Our Goals
- Provide clear and timely PM2.5 and weather data for SLV communities
- Support public health awareness and local decision-making
- Build data transparency and community trust
About the Data
We use a mix of low-cost sensors and reference data sources to estimate air quality conditions throughout the Valley. While not all monitors are regulatory-grade, they help fill spatial gaps and give a more complete picture of local air conditions. Data are periodically checked for errors and summarized for public display.
How to Use This Site
- Check the color-coded air quality map for your area
- Use the weather indicators (temperature, wind, humidity) to understand local conditions
- Review exposure tips on smoky or dusty days
